Paula Ferguson Smith received her law degree from Vanderbilt University and was a cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama where she was recognized for outstanding academic achievements. After law school, Ms. Smith was a law clerk in the offices of Reid, Ricca & Rigell, P.A. in Palm Beach, Florida where she worked in insurance defense and workers’ compensation. She went on to become an associate lawyer in general practice with Boone & Davis, P.C. in Atlanta, then McLain & Merritt, P.C. specializing in workers’ compensation and insurance defense and finally was a partner in the firm of Whiteman, Smith & Hamilton, LLP where she also specialized in workers’ compensation defense.

Ms. Smith is active in promoting costs containment for the Florida and Georgia defense bar. Thoroughly familiar with workers’ compensation issues from the employer and insurance company side, Ms. Smith has worked with Tom Ashenden for more than 10 years.
